….I cannot stress enough the quality of education and experience one receives attending this program... -Elizabeth Davidenko, SSLM '17
Welcome to the Synodal School of Liturgical Music (SSLM)! We have been educating Orthodox choir conductors, singers and readers since 1992. The intense program takes place each summer in Jordanville, New York, on the territory of Holy Trinity Monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The Core Program leading to certification in Russian liturgical music (with specializations in conducting and singing on kliros) consists of six weeks of intense study spread out over three summers (two weeks each). Students not seeking certification are welcome to attend as well, whether for one year or more, with an Individual Study plan worked out in consultation with the SSLM administration. The school also runs a Pastoral Bridge Program to meet the curricular needs of students from the Pastoral School of the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America (ROCOR). Since 2015, we have also offered a Continuing Education Program for our alumni. As of August 1, 2018, SSLM is an entity directly responsible to the ROCOR Synod of Bishops and enjoys a collaborative relationship with Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville.
SSLM's offerings include our Core Curriculum, Continuing Education, Pastoral Bridge, and Individual Study programs.
